TRIALS INVOLVING EXPERT WITNESSES IN NORTHERN IRELAND FACE STRIKE DELAYS
Expert witnesses asked to attend trials in Northern Ireland could find the hearings postponed as barristers in the province threaten strike action over delays in receiving legal aid backpay.
Senior advocates representing the Bar Council are due in talks with the Northern Ireland Court Service aimed at solving the fourty million pound pay dispute which spans up to five years of payments still due in Family Care Centre and Very High Cost criminal hearings.
Both sides in the dispute have publicly expressed hopes of settlement before a boycott starts.
